About SMC Hotels Group
SMC Hotels is a family-owned hotel development and management company. The principals of SMC have over 80 years of combined hotel development, management, and asset management experience across Louisiana, Texas, and New Mexico. SMC was formed in 1984 by W Harrison Smith as a vehicle to manage his family’s hotel real estate holdings and investments. He worked with his father for nearly three decades to profitably manage a number of hotel investments within the family and with outside partners.
Across four generations, the family has developed, invested in and operated numerous hotels across the region. The family’s history in hotels began approximately 80 years ago when CW Lane purchased the Caddo hotel in downtown Shreveport. At different points in time, the family has invested in and operated hotels in Abilene, Shreveport, Baton Rouge, Amarillo, Lake Charles, Austin, San Angelo, the Greater New Orleans area, and Dallas. Its history also includes developing the Residence Inn in Santa Fe, New Mexico, developing both the Quality Inn & Suites in Shreveport (now a Ramada) and the Best Western Plus in Baton Rouge.
In 2014, Delton Smith joined his father and SMC Hotels after spending 8 years with Hyatt Development in a series of escalating positions around the world.
